About Westside Skydivers

Westside Skydivers was founded by Joseph Johnson (Jumpin' Joe) in May 2010 at our Winsted, MN location. Joe has had a passion for his customers and sharing the thrill of skydiving to as many people as he can. Westside Skydivers is located in Winsted, MN just 30 miles from Minnetonka on Hwy 7. Westside Skydivers is the closest skydiving drop zone to the Twin Cities and the western suburbs. Our second location NOW OPEN in Sealy, TX is located just 45 minutes west of downtown Houston on 10. Our staff is held to higher standards and professionalism is number one in all we do. We at Westside Skydivers want your experience to be the best possible. We want our students to take part in every step of the process. Tandem students are able to monitor their altitude on their own and deploy and steer the parachute. This is no carnival ride; you are a part of the whole experience. Westside Skydivers uses United Parachute Technologies Micro Sigma tandem equipment, the newest in the industry. Our AFP (Advanced Freefall Program) students are jumping the newest gear from Aerodyne. Westside Skydivers has handpicked the best instructors from the area. We pride ourselves in being the only skydiving center to drug test its employees to ensure your safety. Everyone who works here has a passion for the sport - they really do have the best job in the world and LOVE sharing each person's unique experience!

A tandem skydive allows you to experience the thrill of a lifetime! In a fun-filled half-hour class, we not only teach you how to pull the ripcord, but we also show you how to steer and land the parachute. After your orientation class, we take you up to 14,000 - 24,000 feet, giving you about 60-120 seconds of free-fall. You are harnessed to your expert instructor, who is there to ensure your safety and enjoyment. After falling at 120 miles per hour, you'll slow your descent at 5,500 feet by pulling the ripcord and deploying your parachute. Then you begin a five to seven minute exciting parachute descent to a soft, on-target landing. After landing, you will receive a logbook from your instructor to certify that you made a tandem training skydive.

What's the Next Step?

So you loved your first tandem skydive and you can't wait to get back in the sky. What's next? Take advantage of our $100.00 tandem same day purchase, or $125.00 if you purchase within 7 days and get back in the air! Or if you think you're ready for the AFP (Advanced Freefall Program), sign up for the class and start learning to skydive like the professionals. Each skydive you make with us counts towards your skydiving license certification.

Westside Skydivers, owner Joseph Johnson (Jumpin' Joe) will be making an attempt in 2015 to break the world record of most tandems in 24 hours to raise money for the Angel Foundation and awareness for Cancer. Jumpin' Joe lost his father to cancer on August 23, 2009. While starting his venture of owning and operating his own skydiving center, his dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer. While helping his dad and family he was sure this was the right thing to do and continued with the project. Although the road was bumpy at times, Westside Skydivers became reality. Now with his dad's blessing and unconditional support throughout his painful process, Jumpin' Joe wants to say, "thank you dad", by raising money and awareness for the Angel Foundation and cancer.
